(More customer reviews)The statement "so quiet you may never know it's on" is totally false. You definitely know it's on. That said, it is quieter than the Nutone fans, and the tone of this fan is better. In other words, the Nutones sound like a train is coming through the bathroom, this fan sounds more like a dull humming sound. Better than most, but it is absolutely NOT Whisper Quiet in no shape or form, as advertised. It's the better of two evils..so to speak.
