(More customer reviews)This Panasonic replaced a Royal all metal Commercial vacuum that I had for years. (BE ready to read my post, I am stoked about this vacuum!)
I am a 41 professional personal trainer and bodybuilder by hobby with a shoulder that is deteriorating so I could not push that Royal "tank-of-a-vacuum" anymore; so needless to say I was first impressed with the ease of mobility this machine offers.
The second thing that impressed me was the significant noise reduction. I looked at almost 50 vacuum cleaners at the vacuum store where I purchased this machine from and all (except the very high end machines (...) or more) were NOISY. The Panasonic MC-UG693 is FAR less noisy than the Hoover Windtunnels that I was seriously considering,,, almost silent by comparison, and my dogs don't run like a bat out of hell when I vacuum. HAHAHA
I have asthma so naturally the third thing that impressed me was the quality of exhaust air from this machine. It has a filtration system of many layers; First a 2 layer microfiltration bag that filters down to hepa standards/ Second, a 2 layer electrostatic motor pre-filter to filter out all of the finer dust before it circulates through the motor/ Third, a final Hepa cartridge filter to eliminate what's left. I read that all the filters should be replaced every six months and the belt (which is very quick and easy to change) should be replaced every 3-4 months depending on use (I caught a throw rug in the roller brush and fried the belt so I had to change the belt already. It's so simple even an airheaded ADHDguy like me can do it!). Again, all minor yet necessary maintenance costs for this FREAKIN AWESOME vacuum.
The fourth thing that impressed me was the ease access to necessary attachments. I have a few dogs so I use attachments all the time. I am also EXTREMELY ADHD so cumbersome attaching of cleaning tools is something that I HATE and wouldn't use (such as the way Kirby and Royal attach their above floor cleaning attachments). I have to use all attachments regularly, especially the air-turbine tool...that thing is golden! It does not come with a bare floor attachment but I found one on-line that easily converts with an adapter to the telescoping wand so I can use a floor brush to clean my hardwood floors and tiled areas. I found that the only drawback with this vacuum is when you set the carpet setting to low and turn the brush roll off, it still isn't that effective on hard surface floors so I had to get the optional floor brush (Ebay has them if you search under "Panasonic Vacuum Cleaner").
I bought this machine from a local vacuum shop that specializes in Panasonic Vacuum Cleaners. I looked today on-line (hence this review) to see if I got ripped off for the price (I bought mine in January),,,the price is EXACTLY the same at the shop as what Amazon, or Ebay is offering. NOTE: Although the bags are not readily available at Lowes (etc.) you can get them online at very reasonable prices. I bought a 12 pack of the GENUINE Panasonic U-12 bags w/2 belts for (...) on ebay. Again I have dogs so I change the bag about once a week.
DO NOT BUY THE GENERIC BAGS (ARM & HAMMER, OR OTHER BRANDS THAT WAL-MART, HOME DEPOT, etc. SELLS), THEY LET WAAAAAY TO MUCH CRAP THROUGH THE BAG AND YOU'LL CLOG YOUR FILTERS (and make sure you get at at least a 2 layer bag for best filtration)
I don't wanna sound like a salesman but you cannot beat this vacuum for the money. It leaves behind NO DOG HAIR, EXCELLENT AIR QUALITY ON THE EXHAUST,the attachments are easy to use, it's QUIET, bags/filters and belts are easy to change, superior product quality, wooden brush roll designed for people with pets (not plastic like Hoover or Bissel),,, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH. Buy this vacuum and with regular belt, bag, and filter changes to keep it operating at it's max efficiency I don't see why this sweeper can't last 10 years!
